7 things you can do with your images after a photography session

You took the time to schedule your session, do all the prep work and get the pictures done. Now that your gallery has been edited and delivered, there is still one more important step in your portrait session process! Print those images! There are some really fun things you can do with your photos and I’m here to give you some inspo for your next session.

  1. Create a gallery wall

Do you have walls in your home that lack character, or maybe have tons of open space and you’re just not sure what to do with them? A gallery wall is an excellent way to add some personality and nostalgia to your home. There are many ways to design a gallery wall so that it reflects your style. The great thing about a gallery wall is that whether you have signed up for a mini session or a full session, you will have plenty of images to choose from. Depending on the size of your wall and the size of your images, a gallery wall can accommodate any number of images. As an added touch, you can add in other wall art or items that are special to your family to create visual interest and variety. If this is something you would like to do in your home, but feel overwhelmed with creating it, I am more then happy to help you design the gallery wall of your dreams at Three Bird Photography!

  2. Compile them in an album

This is a tried and true option to present your photos. Albums can be displayed on coffee tables, in bookshelves, or given to as gifts to others. Each year that you get portrait sessions done, you can create a new album which will lead to the development of a family archive. This is a beautiful gift to give to your children so that as they get older, you have images to look back on with memories that join you as a family. Imagine all the moments you can spend together pulling out the albums and looking through them while you share stories and memories from that phase of life. Here at Three Bird Photography I offer several different album sizes that are individually designed with you in mind!

  3. Gift them to family

One of the easiest ways to repurpose your images and create unique gifts for your family, is to gift them. Get them printed in popular sizes that can be framed (5x7, 8x10, 11x14 or even 16x20) and displayed in their homes. This is easily a favorite item to gift grandparents who can never get enough of the sweet family photos of you and the kids.

  4. Use them for holiday cards

No matter if you got photos that are holiday themed or photos that were done earlier in the year, they will make beautiful holiday cards that you can mail out to friends and family! You can feature a single photo or include a photo collage which highlights each family member. The choice is yours! Starting this year, I have four design options to choose from at Three Bird Photography so that when you get those sessions done, you have the creative freedom to pick the card that best fits your family. *I am offering holiday mini sessions in-studio in November of 2024 so that you can get a head start on knocking those holiday cards off your to-do list! If you are interested in getting on the list to have first dibs at these sessions you can sign up for my newsletter HERE!

  5. Display them in a slide show in a digital frame

I know that digital files are a very popular way for people to get their professional photo images delivered these days. A new product that came on the market in the digital age is virtual picture frames. Essentially this is a picture frame that you can display in your home that you can upload new images too on a regular basis. These images are displayed in a slideshow so you can see different photos each and every day. As you get pictures done over the years, you can just add those to the frame. These also make amazing gifts to family that live far away so even if regular visits can’t happen, they will get to have all kinds of updated photos to see how their loved ones are growing. I’ve linked one of my favorites here.

  6. Create a family story book

This might be one of my favorites for family portrait sessions, engagement sessions, maternity sessions or newborn sessions. Each individual can contribute a favorite story about their family, memory from the year, or a sentence, phrase or quote to describe their family or themselves as a couple. These short stories can be printed in your album, along with your photos, to add an extra layer of personalization to your keepsake. After all, one of the main reasons we have our photos taken is to remember different phases of life and the people in them. By adding stories and written memories to your albums you will have both a visual and written archive of the different phases of life.

  7. Pick your favorites and use them as cover images on thank you cards you can use throughout the year.

Instead of buying generic packs of thank you cards from the store, use some of you images on postcards that can double as thank you cards you send out over the year. If you got married you can use an image from your wedding to thank guests for their gifts. For baby shower thank you cards you can use an image from your maternity session and for holiday thank you’s, a family photo. These are unique, personal and also give purpose to the beautiful photos that you carved out the time to plan and then take.

The next time you have photos done and you’re wondering what to do with them, think outside the box. There’s so many options for how you can use your beautiful images and repurpose them throughout the year!! Reach out to me at Three Bird Photography so we can create beautiful images that will be perfect art in your home for generations to come!
