Top 5 Gift Ideas for Father’s Day

If the dad in your life is super hard to buy for or finding a perfect and unique gift feels out of reach, I’ve put together a list of my top 5 ideas for gifts that will make a lasting impression on that special dad in your life!

  1. The Gift of an Experience

Think about the things dad likes to do most. Is he a guy who likes to hike, workout, go to the movies, play golf, watch drag racing? Does he enjoy visiting local breweries, museums, historic sites, amusement parks, street fairs, sporting events? As you think about the things the dad in your life is passionate about, you can either plan the day around an activity that everyone can do together to celebrate dad OR gift him tickets/gift certificates/a ‘free day’ coupon so he can enjoy one of these events on a date that works for him.

  2. The Gift of Pampering

When we think about ‘pampering’ we typically think of mom. I’m here to remind you that dads enjoy pampering too! This could be a basket of items for dad such as a new hoodie, special facial wash & cream, a new shaving kit, bubble bath, scented candle, fuzzy socks, slippers, etc. or a gift certificate for a massage, pedicure (yes dad’s can enjoy these too!!) or classes at a local yoga studio, crossfit gym, local weightlifting club (especially if they are passionate about exercise).

  3. The Gift of Memories

Gift dad a photo session that is just for him and your kids or if this is for Grandpa, include all the grandkids and his kids. You can take these images and make them into a photo book, framed images that can be displayed in your home or his office or other items that he can have to look back on to remind him of this special role in his life. Added bonus, customize this session to something that is personal to him and the kids. Do they have a special activity they love to do together? Then feature that in your images. Do they have a special outdoor place they like to go spend time at? Use that as the location. This is an easy way to make these photos specific to the current phase of life you are in and will also create lasting memories that everyone can look back on as your family ages.

  4. The Gift of Goodies

What’s more fun then getting a big gift basket of all your favorite things?? Think about including favorite snacks, drinks, treats, lottery scratchers (because these are always fun), gift cards to any locations dad likes to buy his lunch at, comic books, DVD’s, collectibles, cash hidden in cards, get creative with the goodies that dad loves most!

  5. The Gift of Originality

This is the time to flex your creative muscles! Tie-dye a special shirt for dad with the kids, make handprint art that he can hang in his office or put on his bedside table, color a special page that has meaning to kids and dad (if they watch a certain movie together find a coloring book featuring those characters and then write a special note on the back to dad), or make a “My favorite things about you” page listing all the things you love most about dad. Sky’s the limit!

So with Father’s Day fast approaching, I hope you find this list helpful as you work on crafting the perfect gift and perfect day, to honor the dad in your life!
